Tropical Marine Centre pioneered the development of UV cleansing systems and has manufactured them successfully since the late 1970s. There are now four ranges available: Pond Clear, Pond Clear Advantage , Pro Clear Advantage and Pro Pond UV110.

But how do they work?

Ultraviolet radiation at a wavelength of 254 nanometers is extremely effective in halting the reproduction of algae. The algae readily absorbs the UV light which damages its DNA structure and makes it flocculate (clump together ) allowing it to be trapped in a mechanical filter.
TMC's pond range of UV pond clarifiers work on this principle. At the heart of each UV unit is an ultraviolet lamp sealed inside a quartz sleeve. As water is pumped through the unit, ultraviolet light from the lamp destroys the green, single-celled water borne algae (which make garden ponds murky and unattractive), leaving the water crystal clear.

Units Available

UV8 - Suitable for ponds up to 1200 UK Gal (5400 litres/1440 US Gal) with a maximum flow rate of 600 UK Gal (2700 litres/720 US Gal) per hour.

UV15 - Suitable for ponds up to 3000 UK Gal (13500 litres/ 3600 US Gal) with a maximum flow rate of 1500 UK Gal (6750 litres/1800 US Gal) per hour.

UV25 - Suitable for ponds up to 4000 UK Gal (18000 litres/4800 US Gal) with a maximum flow rate of 2000 UK Gal (9000 litres/2400 US Gal) per hour

Fitting your Pro Clear Advantage unit could not be easier. The unit is connected into the water circulation system as shown below and connected to a mains electricity supply in the same way as fitting a plug.

The unit is designed to be positioned either on its base on a flat surface, or attached horizontally to a vertical surface using the brackets provided, and is supplied with dual inlet/outlet fittings allowing the unit to be fitted in the most convenient position available.

Easy to Use

Pro Clear Advantage units require virtually no maintenance and use unique translucent hose connectors which glow to show that the UV lamp is working.

Environmentally safe

Using ultraviolet light, Pro Clear Advantage units destroy the green, single-celled water borne algae which make garden ponds murky and unattractive. As no chemicals are used, there is no danger of pollution or over treatment of the water and sensitive plant and pond life is not affected.

Two sizes available

Pro Clear Advantage UV30 which is suitable for ponds of up to 6,000 imp. gallons (27,000 litres) with a maximum flow rate of 3,000 imp. gallons (13,500 litres) per hour.

Pro Clear Advantage UV55 which is suitable for ponds of up to 10,000 imp. gallons (45,000 litres) with a maximum flow rate of 4,000 imp. gallons (18,000 litres) per hour.
